History of the Delta Theta Chapter

The Delta Theta Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. was chartered on Sunday, August 14th, 1966, at Prairie View A&M University by Brother William J. Nicks. Established on the principles of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service, Delta Theta has long stood as a symbol of excellence, leadership, and community impact within the mighty Gulf Coast Region.

From its inception, the Delta Theta Chapter has been dedicated to uplifting the Prairie View A&M University community through service, academic achievement, and brotherhood. What began as a small circle of determined men has grown into one of the largest and most influential chapters in the fraternity.

Over the years, Delta Theta has continued to make history—earning numerous distinctions and honors that highlight its commitment to excellence. The chapter proudly holds the title of the only Diamond Level Chapter in the Gulf Coast Region, representing the highest standard of Sigma excellence. Delta Theta has also been recognized as Organization of the Year, and has taken home victories in competitive campus events such as the Battle of the Bands Stroll Off.

As the chapter continues to grow, Delta Theta remains steadfast in its mission to uphold the vision of Brother William J. Nicks—serving humanity, strengthening the community, and developing leaders who embody the true spirit of Phi Beta Sigma. With a rich history behind us and a promising future ahead, Delta Theta stands as a shining example of Culture for Service and Service for Humanity.
